Cable selection & construction

Cable selection and installation questions

01What is the difference between a power cable and a control cable?

Power cables are primarily used to transmit electrical power, while control cables are used for control, monitoring and signal circuits in equipment and industrial systems. The required conductor size, core count, shielding, voltage rating and cable construction depend on the application. The final cable should be selected according to the electrical and installation requirements of the equipment.

02How do I select a cable for moving machinery?

For moving machinery, the cable should be selected according to travel distance, movement frequency, bending radius, speed, acceleration, installation method and operating environment. Voltage, current, core count, shielding and environmental exposure should also be confirmed. Continuous-motion applications generally require a cable construction designed specifically for repeated flexing rather than ordinary fixed wiring.

03What information should I provide for cable selection?

Please provide the equipment or application, rated voltage, required conductor size or current, number of cores, movement conditions, minimum bending radius, installation method, operating temperature and any exposure to oil, chemicals or other environmental conditions. Required length, quantity and applicable standards should also be included when available.

04What does minimum bending radius mean?

Minimum bending radius is the smallest radius at which a cable can be bent without exceeding its intended mechanical limits. The required value depends on the cable construction and whether the cable is installed statically or used in continuous movement. Always confirm the bending radius specified for the selected model before installation.

05What is cable shielding used for?

Shielding is used to reduce electromagnetic interference and improve signal stability in applications where electrical noise may affect equipment or control circuits. Whether shielding is required depends on the electrical system, installation environment and cable function. Shielded and unshielded constructions should therefore be selected according to the actual application.

Materials & customisation

Materials, construction and custom requirements

06What is the difference between PVC, silicone rubber and fluoroplastic cable constructions?

Different insulation and sheath materials are selected for different operating conditions. PVC-based constructions are commonly used for general industrial applications, while silicone-rubber and fluoroplastic constructions may be selected where different temperature, flexibility or environmental requirements apply. The appropriate material should be confirmed from the specifications of the individual cable model rather than selected by material name alone.

07Can you manufacture customised cable constructions?

Custom cable requirements can be reviewed according to conductor size, number of cores, insulation and sheath material, shielding, cable diameter, colour, marking, length and application conditions. Feasibility and technical details should be confirmed before quotation and production.

08How do I confirm the applicable standard or certification?

Standards and certification requirements vary by cable model and target market. Please check the technical information provided on the relevant product page and specify any required standard, test report or certification when submitting an enquiry. Requirements should be confirmed before order placement.

Ordering & support

Ordering, delivery and after-sales support

09What information is required for a quotation?

A quotation can be prepared more accurately when the product model or application, cable construction, conductor size, number of cores, quantity, required length, destination and any special technical requirements are provided. For customised applications, operating conditions should also be included.

10How long does production take?

Production time depends on the cable model, specification, quantity, material requirements and current production schedule. Standard and customised products may therefore have different lead times. The estimated production schedule should be confirmed with the quotation or order.

11How is international shipping arranged?

Shipping can be arranged according to the order volume, destination, cargo characteristics and agreed trade terms. Available transport arrangements and shipping documents are confirmed before dispatch. More information is available on the Shipping & Delivery Information page.

12What should I provide when requesting after-sales support?

Please provide the product model and specification, order or delivery reference when available, a description of the issue and operating conditions, together with relevant photographs or test information. Clear information helps the technical team review the case more efficiently. For the required preparation details, see After-sales Service.
